Celebrate Banned Books Week by Buying Books at The BookShelf!!
Medina County, OH: In celebration of Banned Books Week, Medina County’s BookShelf stores will be offering a “buy one, get one free” sale on all used titles in the store from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3.
“We have a display of banned and challenged books in each store,” noted BookShelf manager Diane Shreve. “All the books on the special display are for sale, so customers can see the types of books that people try to remove from school classrooms and library shelves. We celebrate freedom of the press by encouraging everyone to try a new book.”
All used titles in the store—not just banned and challenged books—will be “buy one, get one free” for the week. Stop in and explore our books—nearly all books in the stores are donated by generous county residents, so you never know what treasures you might find!
The BookShelf stores, at 831 Pearl Road in Brunswick, 130 Main Street in Wadsworth, and 105 W. Liberty Street in Medina, are the only bookstores in the county. The stores support the literacy and adult tutoring operations of non-profit Project: LEARN of Medina County.
“We are always amazed by the books that end up on the ‘most challenged list’ every year. Some of them are classics that readers have loved forever, like Huckleberry Finn and The Hobbit. Even the Harry Potter books have been on the list. Our volunteers love to feature these books for customers and we love offering our customers a great sale, too!” added Sandy Brown, Volunteer Coordinator for the Medina BookShelf.
BookShelf stores are open Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm, Saturdays, 10am-4pm.
