Wonder by R. J. Palacio has been selected by the United Way, the Medina County District Library, and Wadsworth Public Library for the program called “One Book, One Community.” The story introduces us to Auggie Pullman, a fifth grader born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to mainstream schooling until our story begins. The story is a funny, uplifting and moving tale about fitting in and handling bullies. Every sixth grade student in the county will be reading this book, and other county residents are encouraged to join in the program and read this amazing story.
“A memorable story of kindness, courage and wonder.” —Kirkus Review
“Palacio carves a wise and refreshing path, suggesting that while even a kid like August has to be set free to experience the struggles of life, the right type of closeness between parents and children is a transformative force for good.” —Maria Russo, New York Times Book Review
