Project: LEARN Receives Grant from Westfield Insurance Foundation

August 18, 2014:  Project: LEARN of Medina County is the recipient of a $500 grant from Westfield Insurance Foundation’s Volunteer Grant Program.  Scott Snyder, Westfield employee and a volunteer with Project: LEARN of Medina County, was awarded the grant based on his volunteer commitment to the organization.

Scott Snyder has volunteered 55 hours with Project: LEARN in a variety of capacities.  The award states: “Scott has been an invaluable volunteer for Project: LEARN.  His leadership has resulted in several successful fundraising events providing crucial support for our educational mission.  His ideas, energy and enthusiasm for our mission have made a huge contribution to Project: LEARN.  We are lucky to have his support.”  Scott currently serves as vice president of the board of trustees for Project: LEARN.

Project: LEARN of Medina County’s mission is to enhance lives and strengthen communities by helping adults improve fundamental skills in reading, problem solving and the English language.

Westfield Insurance Foundation’s Volunteer Grant Program was designed to connect to communities through employee volunteer action.  Employees of Westfield can apply annually.

Project: LEARN is a United Way partner organization that provides free tutoring for adult learners in literacy, math, English as a second language, GED test preparation, and problem-solving skills.  For over 31 years, Project: LEARN has worked to strengthen communities and enhance lives by helping adult learners throughout Medina County.  The organization also operates three bookstores/tutoring centers, in Medina, Wadsworth and Brunswick, where donated books are sold to support our mission.
