For our ninth year, Project: LEARN of Medina County is hosting Match Wits, a friendly and fun trivia competition for teams from around Medina County. This year’s event is Thursday, April 11th from 6pm-9pm at Coppertop at Cherokee Hills Country Club in Valley City. Please join us to raise funds for Project: LEARN’s adult literacy tutoring operations!
This year, teams will again consist of up to 8 players, all participating from their banquet table at Coppertop. After a delicious buffet meal (cash bar available), participants will get down to business and try to answer the challenging questions posed by the quiz master. Every table in the room will be participating—teams will again have an exciting and fun evening! You can bring a table of 8, or a smaller group. Sign up form is found here:
A bonus offering this year will be the opportunity to win the assistance of a “topic guru” for a portion of the game. Raffle tickets ($1 each, 6 for $5) will be sold on site, and you can put your ticket in for the guru(s) of your choice. Joining us as gurus will be: Chris DellaCourt, NASA engineer, for our category “Space: The Final Frontier,” Melanie Wurm, owner of Mel’s Sweet Shop, as our expert for “Sweets for the Sweet–Candy and Candymaking”; Megan Krebs, yoga instructor at Roots Yoga, serving as our expert on yoga for “There’s No Place Like Om”; Kristen O’Brien, assistant retail manager at A.I. Root Candle Co., for our “Will You Light My Candle?” category; Post Newspaper Food Columnist Karl Gerhard, for our category about food, “Lettuce Get Eggcited”; Medina Gazette and Elyria Chronicle Telegram sportswriter Scott Petrak, guru for our category “Cleveland Browns History”; and sommelier and all-around wine expert Lynsey Curren, for our category about wine, called “On Cloud Wine”. Finally, we welcome teacher Alex Kubinski, for a category called “Where in the World?” focused on geography. A special treat for us this year will be having Medina County Auditor Mike Kovack as our host and quizmaster!
For over 36 years, Project: LEARN has served Medina County adults who need assistance learning to read, learning English as a second language, practicing for the GED test, or improving basic skills.
